Dance to the music.

Last night, I did just that. My dad & I went on a (now) rare daddy-daughter bonding date to dinner and the American Idols Live tour. We used to do more things just the two of us, but now that our family has expanded, we don't get out as much as we used to - let's face it, mostly we all like to spend our free time with Delaney. :)

So last night was a special treat. We drove downtown, had a nice dinner at Merchant's (the only place without a ridiculous wait, but the food was delish) and walked over to the Bridgestone for the concert. We had fun talking about all the Idol stuff and laughing about how much the tshirts were ($35 for a t-shirt of a non-famous person, really??)

We are both big fans of the TV show, and of course both have our favorites. We ended up sitting two rows behind Colton Dixon's parents. If you didn't watch the show (shame on you), Colton is from Murfreesboro and ended up making it into the top ten. It was pretty cool watching his parents cheer him on. When he sang Piano Man, his mom started to cry and it made me tear up too. As a mom, that seems like it would be about the best feeling ever to watch your child achieving their dreams. How awesome!! Makes me excited to watch Delaney and see what her future will hold.

The grand finale was last season's winner, Phillip Phillips. He did about five songs, which was the highlight of the night for me. If you haven't heard him, check him out. He is amazing! A definite Dave Matthews vibe, which I absolutely love. I wish the whole concert could have been Phillip! All the singers were really great and there were a lot of good group numbers too. Overall, a great concert and a great night out with my Dad!

I shared a couple of photos on Facebook last night, but here are a couple others (excuse the phone camera blurriness):

Phillip - Swoon, sigh. Yep, love him.

Country girl Skylar - love her, too!

The girls performing - everyone was so great!
